When it comes to feeding your baby, it seems like there are a million options. Should you nurse or formula feed, make baby food or buy it; how long should you wait to start solids? The list of questions you have will become exhausting. Every person you ask will also provide you with different advice.
The reality is that there is no right way to feed your baby; there is only the right way for you. As long as your child is being fed and receiving the nutrients they need, then you are doing the right thing. What I can tell you from experience though, is that there are products out there that make it all much more manageable. I realize that my experience with motherhood may differ from everyone else’s. Nikki had to be formula fed, I made 90% of her baby food, and we started solids at 4 months. Just like all new moms, though, I went through a lot of trial and error to find out what worked for me and my child. Hopefully, I can save you some of that phase with these recommendations.

1. Baby Brezza Formula Pro

This is essentially a Keurig for baby formula. It is hands down, the best gift I have ever received. The postpartum adjustment period is really long and those 3 am feedings were rough. When you’re sleep deprived, hungry, and not sure when your last shower was, it will be nice to just push a button and have a bottle made perfectly. You choose how many ounces you want to make and stand back while warmed water and formula dispense perfectly into the bottle. Shake and serve. It’s that simple.

2. Beaba Baby Cook

When it’s time to start solids, you may want to try making your own food. I highly suggest doing so because I’m semi-crunchy like that, but also because it actually saves a bunch of time and money. So many people avoid it thinking that it will be incredibly time consuming, but with some pre-planning, it will save time in the long run. This amazing little machine replaces the many different appliances and accouterments you once needed to make purees at home. It steams, purees, defrosts and reheats your baby food. It is an all-in-one baby food maker that does everything you need with a minimal amount of work from you.

3. Boon Squirt Spoon

It’s a fact that babies are messy. This is especially true when they’re learning to eat. This miracle spoon has a nifty reservoir that you can fill with whatever puree you feeding your little one. Simply squeeze the base and a small amount is distributed onto the spoon for feeding. No tiny fingers grabbing at a jar of food mean there is less mess, which is always a good thing.

4. OXO Tot Baby Food Storage

When making your own baby food it is always best to make it in bulk. Setting aside some time and making batches of food will save you time and sanity later. These handy little guys allow you to store that food in perfect portions for your little one. They snap together for easy storage and are freezer, dishwasher, oven, and microwave safe. The best part is that when your child ages out of purees, these are the perfect size for portioning snacks on the go!
